At Orangutan Trekking Experience, we provide ethical and authentic jungle trekking adventures in Bukit Lawang. With over 20 years of experience, our local guides have been leading travelers through the rainforest, sharing the beauty of Sumatra’s wildlife, nature, and hidden jungle trails.

Staff is amazing, food is great and also the location which is deeper in the jungle. Only accessible by motorbike, but the staff is super flexible and take you up and down to the town whenever you want (not needed and not expected but we tipped them a bit every time). We saw so many orangutans with them! Even when taking the trip to the bat cave, but I think we were lucky. Would definitely recommend Batu Kapal!

We came to stay in Batu Kapal Guest House for 3 days and we ended up with staying a week! The surrounding, hospitality and food is amazing. You can go to sleep with the monkeys. orangutans and thousands of birds. We did a trek into the jungle with them and everything was super good organized and the guid was knowledgeable. Also Bayu took me for motocross trip and it was great experience! Thank you for everything!

Excellent! Really loved to stay with Jaka and the team. Hiked through the jungle for hours, saw plenty of wild animals and slept in rural but safe places. Team provided local and delicious food, and experienced guides shared their knowledge. Can totally recommend it.

Wonderful experience! Did the two day trek , and they organised everything perfectly. The accommodation on the first night was fascinating , literally felt like you are in the middle of the jungle. Second night was camping and eating by a waterfall in the jungle . Food was excellent, service amazing, and accommodation perfect. Did it twice and will recommend to anyone visiting Bukit lawang.

This is a great place, located in a very quiet area right next to the jungle. The river is just a few meters from the cabin. You can only get there on foot or by scooter, but the owner can organize transportation. They also organize jungle treks and provide delicious food. The staff is incredibly friendly. A special thanks to Wanta, Jajang, Bagus (and all his wives 😉), Habib, and all the other guys working there. See you next time!
